I can't tell what the surfaces look like so I'm reluctant to go full-on AU. Certainly the details are there for it but it might be EF-45 if there's no lustre.

PCGS tends go high on circulated Canadian coins but they also prize eye-appeal which is a little on the low side for that guy.

I'd go no higher than AU, because there is visible wear on the crown. There is also environmental damge and a ding on the rim.

Everyone was fairly close. I was largely surprised by the straight grade considering the reverse and was leaning towards XF Details.

Interesting - did they send you one of their fancy PCGS photos? That might illustrate their rationale.

With that grade and no comments, I guess that it was worth having it cert'd, since it's now a 4 digit value. Good job

AU-50 seems right but the environmental damage should have given it a details grade.

Nice coin!!

Solid ICCS EF-45.

PCGS has improved on MS Canadian coin grading, but still drop the ball when grading circulated Canadian coins.

I should also note that I included PCGS's restoration service for the coin. My "before" pics are poor but I think it is improved although they appeared disinclined to go after the reverse more aggressively.

Very little wear on this one.
Au 50 is appropriate.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Ended up putting it up on great collections. Starting bid seemed low based on comps I had seen. See how it all works out
