Here are my shots from the DENVER Eleanor Roosevelt Quarter. Never seen anything like it before. Sure looks tripled in the first shot to me. Thoughts? A little different lighting on the last one.

These quarters are loaded with MD. I often joke about that it's easier to find one with MD than it is to find one without.

of course I had to start looking closely at my Roosevelt 25 cent's. It is a bit mind boggling at first but mine also show the same Doubling which after reading up on it all, is indeed Machine Doubling on incuse features. Dats what I think, anywho. ..and holy cow there are alot of tiny die chips/gouges on these coins.

Quote: This may sound odd, but I can't tell for sure if the letters are incuse or raised. At lower magnification I can convince myself that they are incuse but the more it's magnified, the more sure I am that they are raised. ... Interesting optical illusion, though. It's the same brain phenomenon that causes the concave face illusion. Hold the tablet or computer screen at arm's length and your brain will suddenly switch to interpreting the information correctly.

Common occurrence seen on quarters with incused devices around the rim. If it was a doubled die. You'd see the incuse devices being skinny, and wavy looking. For example on the shield cent MAJOR doubled die reverses the EPU which is incuse is always skinny and wavy looking not uniform at all. So that's what you'd want to see for a doubled die. The design gets distorted as the working hub and working die stirke and click into place and what not. That's why epu looks as it does. Normal quarter here.
