I've provided the link where this press conference took place.....and he didn't seem to be amused or interested in elaborating on it further.

It's also really the Billionaire George Soros who's had some very interesting "pro" comments on this though......and you can find these through an Internet search easily....some were as recently as three days ago. He is supposedly this "wizard" and his opinions and future outlooks seem to mean a lot to a lot of people. You know, the ol' "his words carry weight when he speaks" kind of thing. And he's saying how the Dollar will be worthless and such things.....(I think he made a Billion of those "Dollars" in one day though !)
Again...I'm not a fan of George Soros either.....but as a powerful public figure.....it is what it is. But this isn't JUST him is the problem.....there are many sources and leaders and countries discussing this......Soros and Obama were just simply "asked" and they gave their opinions......these are only two people of the many out there ....

Sorry.......correction.....he says "I don't believe there's a need"

The press conference is here.....

He is definitely a person of an extreme nature:

In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003, Soros said that removing President George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death." He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat President Bush, "if someone guaranteed it," and many continue to state this as Soros's position even after Soros clarified the statement in a Q&A session at the end of his March 3, 2004 address to California's Commonwealth Club.

Insider trading conviction
In 1988, he was asked to join a takeover attempt of the French bank Societe Generale. He declined to participate in the bid but did later buy a number of shares in the company. French authorities began an investigation in 1989, and in 2002 a French court ruled that it was insider trading, a felony conviction as defined under French securities laws and fined him $2.3 million, which was the amount that he made using the insider information.

Punitive damages were not sought because of the delay in bringing the case to trial. Soros denied any wrongdoing and said news of the takeover was public knowledge.

His insider trading conviction was upheld by the highest court in France on June 14, 2006. In December, 2006 he appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, claiming that the 14-year delay in bringing the case to trial precluded a fair hearing.

Euro does not make sense in Europe

The Euro is only as strong as its weakest member. However you spin it, the Euro is still cracking because of non-unity.

I will never want to see a world currency. On the world market, either use dollars or don't use anything at all.

I think you may have been listening to a little too much US government propaganda. Always a dangerous thing. You guys (much like us) are in a pickle!

A better place to live free, fulfil yourself, and have a fair shot at success. I hope it remains so with less government intervention.

The Billionaire George Soros has made some comments relating to this recently as well......

My opinion of Soros is decidedly not family-friendly so I will keep it to myself

All I will say is that he has been doing alot of bragging lately on how many billions his hedge fund is making by betting on an economic collapse, he specifically talks up the worst aspects, makes a concerted attempt to drive negative economic indicators, and his overt funding of bottomfeeders like MediaMatters and MoveOn.org. That guy is bad mojo for everyone regardless of political affiliation, nothing like some jerk rooting for everyone to lose but himself...

well I would hate a world currency because it would destroy the new ofac collectors. I like feudalism best numismatically because it produces the most variation of coinage. Look at german coinage before it unified, you litterally had hundreds of little countries each with its own currency, thats hundreds of different coins made each year! How boring would it be if there was only one set of coins produced every year.

The EU's coins make sense solely due to the fact of the close proximity of all of the participating nations the same way dozens of African nations share the same currency now.

In 10-15 years I could fathom a possible Amero Dollar but seriously doubt it. I too agree that we will become a cashless society far before anything like this will ever happen.

You modern collectors are just gonna have to suck it up and collect older coins like the rest of us now

Personally, the Euro would only make sense if they could make more attractive coins! Ever seen those Belgian Euro coins?--they're simply sad (sorry but it's true)--while others are OK. Funny how all most my friends overseas live in non-Euro countries...I know how to pick'em I guess

A little levity for such topics, take as you will.

Yup, and now people think his word is as good as gold. Before, I didn't even know who Soros was, but after his lucky hand, people think he's some kind of market-predicting-altering-forming-making saint.

Perhaps you could show me a list where the US coumes top to do with a better life?

GDP per capita? Nope, Quality of life? Nope, Life expectancy? Nope, Infant mortality rate? Nope, Happiness Index? Nope, Prosperity? Nope, Satisfaction with life? Nope.....

The only one I could find was death by gun crime.

Like I say, whatever you do don't listen to your own countries propaganda. I know I don't listen to mine. Nothing but BS.

Also having lived in the States for nine years I would say that your government is a lot more restrictive on individual freedoms than others.

And working five years somewhere before you get more than a week off a year for vacation is not a good thing.

Agreed. While coins and similar physical objects remain in everyday use, they will remain as symbols of autonomy and independence. But once physical money disappears as a practical medium of exchange and becomes entirely electronic (and, assuming we aren't heading for a New Dark Age, this is inevitable), a one-world currency will be much easier to implement. After all, why should you, me or anybody else care whether those electrons are called dollars, or credits, or googleplexes, or anything else?

If that's the case, then they better start getting better at "I.D. Theft"......it's already such a HUGE problem now. Just think if there was no "actual money" and it was all electronic as hypothisized.......the way this frequently occurring crime is now....at that future point.......it would/will change to 40% of us being "victims" then !

Penalties and punishments for those caught doing this crime are obviously not strict enough.......but I don't even think that matters.....because it still wouldn't stop it or "stem the tide" I bet !

I kinda think we're TOO MUCH into the "electronic age" as it is now !......or at least we haven't evolved yet to make it more secure and feasible and reliable so that nobody can rip off my "googleplexes" and steal my identity...
