all the folks bidding on it all have very low feedback points themselves - possibly indicating that maybe they don't know coins very much yet. Also the bidder with only 6 points has VERY fishy bidding habits - maybe just driving up the price..

Quote: It's said that money isn't counterfeit unless you try to pass it as real. If they keep an eye on it and it's sold, they would be able to have the idiot busted. If "they" are saying that, then "they" are wrong. A counterfeit coin is a counterfeit coin, from the time it is made up until the time it is destroyed. Making counterfeit coins, importing counterfeit coins, or owning equipment that could be used to make counterfeit coins, is illegal. It is, however, legal to buy, sell or own counterfeit coins, so long as no fraud is being conducted - in other words, so long as both the buyer and seller are aware it is a counterfeit and neither party has intent to attempt to fraudulently use the coin in commerce. This protects coin collectors who wish to buy, sell or own historic counterfeits eg. Henning nickels. It is nevertheless against ebay policy to sell counterfeits on ebay, whether you call them "counterfeit" or not, because ebay has a blanket ban on selling counterfeit coins. The unfortunate side-effect of this policy is that honest counterfeit sellers can't accurately describe their fakes, but actual criminals have no trouble lying or pretending ignorance to sell theirs. In the case of this seller, if the coin is counterfeit, and the seller knows it is counterfeit, but tries to sell it on ebay anyway, they are violating both federal law and ebay policy.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Try to tell ebay that. Deaf ear, at least to little guys who try to report an item. Scammers rule on ebay.

11 bids by 11 different ebay names were retracted/cancelled - some of them were pretty high too - BUT they were all cancelled at the same time - "Cancelled: 14 Mar 2024 at 10:43:30am PDT. " What do you think that was all about?

Quote: the reverse shows those huge 'die cracks' in locations where they normally don't form I must admit, those die cracks made me question my opinion for a minute because there are 3 different die crack varieties for the 22D. However, the obverse has NONE of the die markers which is by far the easiest path to verification.

"This listing was ended by the seller on Thu, Mar 14 at 11:52 AM because the item was sold." is not the usual message. Typically it's something like "Bidding sold on Thu, Mar 14 at 5:00 PM." on a sold item with bids. Seller is playing games.
@sap, on the legality issue I'm not a lawyer, but the US Hobby Protection Act does not support your assertion. "Any person engaged in the sale in commerce of imitation numismatic items shall be subject to the requirements of the Act" - which means that in order to be sold, they must be properly incused with the word COPY in the proper dimensions. It says nothing about a willing buyer and a willing seller being OK. Perhaps the law is different in Australia.

I've reported hundreds of fake items over the years, but almost never felt my input made a difference.
