agree. LONG acetone bath (don't let it all evaporate out), then a 'very soft' toothbrush (the ones for toddlers). If and only if there is an S, then Verdicare.

This coin has been through a fire. Good luck. I don't think anything will help.

I ordered VertiCare (60 ml) this morning. I pulled the coin out of my covered container and brushed with a toothbrush and some stuff was removed. I put it back in the container for a another 4 hours.

Ok... The Big Reveal! After over a total of 30 hours of 4 to 8 hour soaks and tooth brushing I found an S under the crud! The acetone worked wonders. The coin has dings and wear, but it is a 1909 S Indian Head. I am pretty jacked and I will be heading back to my local coin shop to see if any grab bags are still available.

That's fantastic, Jimbo! But I would go easy on those grab-bags.

That's absolutely amazing and nice work. Better results than I expected as well! A final word of advice, give it a final dip (rinse) in acetone before applying the Verdicare.
