My preference is the eagle design, LP-17. My fear is that they will have several designs we will have to go out searching for, like the 2009 Lincoln Cent and Statehood/Territory/State Park Quarters. Ken

LP-17 I like the Eagle reverse the best. It is a sharp looking coin design and I think it would be a great coin to collect for those that have sharp detail in high grades.
LP-13 The one with the shield is nice, but I'd rather see Stars in the top part of the shield, ONE CENT at the bottom and E Pluribus Unum in a slightly thinner banner instead.
LP-02 I don't like the one with the US Capitol on it. Congress is practically taking every last cent we have as it is.
LP-10 The one with the flag that has 50 stars is optimistic but a few states are seriously considering leaving the Union, Texas is probably the most determined and they ain't a foolin' around in Texas. Why? Because of the people in the building shown on LP-02.

[quote]what could be better to represent this than the symbol of the shield that was on almost all U.S. coins minted during the time that Mr. Lincoln ensured the Union's preservation?[quote] Well considering it was on the coins before and after the time Lincon was "preserving the Union" how is it embalic of Lincoln preserving the union?

I like the eagle the best, and the Capital building the least. Pretty birdy . . .

Go with the shield, it's a classic.

It sounds like I am one of the few that likes the Capital. There is some symbolism there as Lincoln pushed to continue construction of the cast iron dome and it was completed during his presidency.

I think that we need something new. The eagle emblam has been overused in recent years. A shield hasn't been used in over a hundred years. The capital looks boring, and the flag looks odd on a coin.

...shhhhh... do you want a coin with congress on it? Just keep this declaration under wraps and let us have the eagle!

There is some symbolism there as Lincoln pushed to continue construction of the cast iron dome and it was completed during his presidency. The fourth 2009 Lincoln Reverse already acknowledges this fact; however, I can see where a completed Capitol building might signify his success in keeping the union together.

What about the other 14 designs? Have they been posted on the web yet? I'd like to see how many great designs will be passed up before Congress honor's itself with yet another political coin issue. ~ Jim

I think the eagle won't look that good on such a small coin, besides too many eagles on US coins. I like the shield design. Simple. Good for a small coin. Classic.

Texas Trader, I also like the capital. The eagle gets second place with me. I think if they did something else with the shield (or the flag) I would like it.
