Is it inflation or is it currency devaluation? Which comes first? Is it the fault of the guy who demands higher wages? The corporations raising prices? Or the government opening the spigots to a pig trough to pay off lobbyists who just represent companies with employees?

It has been the same routine since I was born and I'm 70. What is the next 70 years going to look like? Probably the same just with different players. Maybe next time it will be Italy. Argentina has defaulted 9 times so make it an even dozen. The fixes will be the same, refinance, extend, write off, and maybe a little austerity.

The lowest probability would be a default by any of the majors. No major will stop kicking the can down the road and default when all the other majors just keep kicking.

I don't know glenmorenee. Lots of causes. I tend to blame entitlement spending which I collect in SS and Medicare. The government has depleted the reserves, which either means reducing the benefits or increasing the borrowing to maintain them. It's easy to guess how the politicians will act.

I was at Costco a few weeks ago and they had Pamp Suisse 1-oz bars priced at $2549.99. At that time the spot price was over $2500 so the price was good, especially if the 2% executive member rebate applies. Didn't think my spouse would approve so I passed.

Next week they were apparently sold out.

A magazine I recently bought said Costco is not releasing sales figures on its gold sales. It took a guess at 200 million a month , at $ 2,700 I am surprised at the buying.

Should have bought at $2549.99. They had gold at Costco today, for $2799.99.
Maybe in a couple months I'll regret having passed again.

No silver or gold at Costco today, but a friend I know picked up a silver 10-oz bar there a couple of months ago.

OK, this time I couldn't pass up the deal.

Spot price of gold yesterday was about $2720. The Costco price was $2699.99. With the executive Costco membership I supposedly get 2% cash back on all purchases. I paid with a credit cart that supposedly gives me 4% cash rewards on all purchases. Assuming I'm not misunderstanding the discount terms, my net cost of this 1-ounce bar should be:

$2699.99 - $54 - $108 = $2537.99.

I'll have to wait almost a year to get my Coscto rebate and I'll have to pay off the credit card in full next month, but maybe I did OK. It's a nice-looking bar, anyway.

Nice bar Jaobler. Below is pic at my Costco last month, 10 oz silver Pamp bar and 1 oz Pamp gold bar. A while back they had 2024 1 oz gold buffalo and 2024 1 oz gold American Eagle in red, white, blue assay cards, I bought one each. If you are a Costco member the metals prices are pretty good compared to online dealers.
