@pan, no. I rarely see u.s. gold here which is why I'm cautious.

Thanks for commenting on the 1895. Curious what you think of this one.

If genuine, I'll say MS-61.

@coinfrog any concerns on this one regarding authenticity?

Authenticating highly counterfeited gold can be impossible through photos since the diagnostics are very small. Since this is a common date, an XRF test to verify the 90% gold content should be good enough. The coin looks authentic from the photos.

@jac, that's the only piece of the diagnostics that's missing in Rome. There are no (that I've seen) XRF machines. It's all physical and visual.

Gold sells for close to spot here but there's the caveat...

Weight would help. I really don't see any wear.

I saw these two coins again today. In hand, both have nice luster and no weak or soft spots on the devices; no evidence of tooling in the fields. Both are at weight; having handed a handful of these (two previous $5 being jeweler/counterfeit) I am going to side with these being authentic specimens.

Is there any premium on the 1906 since mintage is lower?

I think this one would still bring common date prices.

@IGE, I thought so. Just checking. Gold isn't sold here with much focus on dates or condition.

Thanks again everyone
