Those 3 coins in the OP all have very unusual wear patterns, especially the third one with AG level wear and full rims. Never heard of details for artificial wear before, but these seem appropriate for that designation.

What a world; pay more for less ! Next, with holes ! Imagine the cost of a holed, P-2, JOP dollar ! The oldest dollar only circulated for 20 years at most (and not many pre-Liz in circulation by 1960).

Keeping a low-grade coin that Grandpa used to carry in his pocket : wonderful keepsake !
Putting one in a 2x2 and marking "filler" because one day you'll find a better one : good idea.
Finding one for a dollar at a flea market or Goodwill store because they didn't know that it was worth .6 tr.oz. of silver : great find !
Finding one or a bunch while metal-detecting : SCORE !
Amassing a whole pile to give to you kids or grandkids for future gains when the price of silver is skyhigh : excellent idea.
Paying more than bullion : cause for a numismatic intervention , including retrograde therapy and a Charlton catalogue .
Paying a grading company to grade them :

Here are 2 of the coins from the auction; one is graded AG-3, the other is VG-8 !!! So if I own the one they called VG-8, do I break it out and send it to be regraded, and hope it gets a G-4, worth much more ? Seriously ? That's their VG-8 ?

Terry .... Why would someone pay to have one of those cert'd when the cost for the TPG is, or will be, more than the coin will ever be worth, even if Ag gets to $40/oz?

Sometimes I think PCGS has gone off the deep end.

Okie, I guess the emojis confused you. The guy laughing is my reaction to sending them for grading, and the headslaps are for the ones sending them.

Terry .... I don't know what the cartoons are for (you call them emojis/) other than the laughing guy and the guy pondering over popcorn, waiting. I have never had a cell phone, nor actually talked on one, but have taken a few photos for others. I'm still used to dial telephones or, before that, the operator who asked you what 3 digit and one letter phone number you wanted.
I still remember our old "operator-assist" phone number. The house was 277W and my dad's work was 209J. We had a party line and our ring was a long and a short and the party line could listen in. By the late 50's we had a dial phone, but we had the operator for at least 8 years.

The whole lowball thing is a farce. All the "good idea" remarks in my post above were meant for raw, beat-up dollars. Actually sending them for grading is beyond my comprehension.

Okie, I was minted in 1950 . Our phone was on a party line (someone in the neighbourhood who connected the calls, and could listen in, not the present late-night TV ads for hookups). I don't have a cellphone either. I've posted 3 times in 16 years on my facebook page. The words "old geezer" come to mind.
Sometimes when I'm making a post, I have to go over it several times to make sure I don't offend anyone and get kicked off the site. The emojis can give a little something (that's a little "je ne sais quoi") satirical to the post. Could I write this without it possibly being taken as promoting violence ?
When posting here, the box to the left of this box shows the emojis(smilies). Run the mouse cursor over them and it says what they are.

Thoughts on what are the markers for artificial wear
My thoughts are that the grading companies use the same methods for detecting "artificial wear" as they do to detect "cleaning". Microscopic examination, I guess, would be one method. They would look for lines indicating the coin was rubbed with something more coarse than another coin. Perhaps a multitude of very small parallel lines/scratches.

@nss-52 - appreciate your thoughts

Interestingly enough, Alliance Coin Auctions (the auction 'dept' of Alliance Coin & Banknote) had this 1967 Dollar for sale last week...

I guess PCGS has worked on methods to detect the artificial wear versus actual wear similar to their methods to detect artificial toning/color as nss-52 mentioned but as to what they do I don't think they post the actual methods used to detect.

This article on pcgs which also covers the appeal to some for lowball coins says:

The dealer warns that low ball collectors need to be careful discerning between truly worn coins and those that were altered to look like they saw heavy circulation. "As low ball collecting becomes more popular and low population PO01 coins start to bring thousands of dollars, the prevalence of 'artificially worn' coins has started to increase." Collectors are reminded they should stick to buying low ball coins certified by PCGS, whose experts can distinguish between a coin that has received genuine wear versus artificially accelerated wear.

https://www.pcgs.com/news/the-lowdo...w-ball-coins

So I guess you can try raw and grade but like with other types of coins ungraded raw coins may be as they seem or doctored in some way and there lies the problem for those who have low skills to distinguish between the two.
