Just came across some listings on ebay, and below as example: 2019 Canada 1/10 oz Fine Gold Maple Leaf $5 BU Coin in Mint Seal 14k Yellow FNhttps://www.ebay.ca/itm/205188635732Offered for USD 150 with Buy It Now.There are few similar listings, different 1/10 oz coins for price way below melt. My opinion: STAY AWAY from theseAs per one of the feedbacks: 3***l (47)- Feedback left by buyer. Past month Verified purchase Total scammer tried to porn off a gold coin when it was plated sent the message that they were going to cancel my order and then raise the price do not buy from them

@silv, for sure there is plenty of misdirection with this listing, but some aspects should give you pause: the seller states that the base metal is silver and the gold is 14K. I'm not saying that makes it right nor that this necessarily meets ebay's standards for truth in descriptions, but I think that potential buyers need to do a little investigating as well.

Current prices have quenched my enthusiasm. The best thing to buy isn't bullion right now. Patiently waiting for a big dip.

I just checked out Monumental for the first time and they seem quite fair. They have an 1880's starter pack of Morgans they are unfortunately out of. I love starter packs and old Morgans are just fun to have around as long as the prices are fair. I don't expect a MS64 1878 CC to be given away at spot.
I'm going to trade at Monumental more now but I did just buy a 10 oz .9999 Canadian slab of silver from Heros for $351 + free ship which is pretty fair considering its a kind of tough slab to even find. Monumental is at $356.80 .

Actually unless you like bright and shiny, which I could care less about when buying junk silver, Monumental is quite high. They sell tubes of 40 BU pre-64 silver quarters for $307.46 when the spot price for the actual bullion is at $235. This is way to much profit for what amounts to pocket change so I'd shop elsewhere as well. Heros has the same amount of junk quarters for $253, which is a lot more reasonable. They wont be as shiny but who cares ?
But Monumental's bars look quite fair. They have that Aztec 1 oz bar for $34.49 which is pretty good and probably wont last. Its a great looking bar.

Why are you comparing BU prices to average circulated prices. Monument Metals sells both BU rolls and average circulated rolls. As I write this, their price for a BU roll of Washington quarters is $312.60 and their price for an average circulated roll is $253.90 (with silver listed at $33.58 per ozt on their website). There's no guarantee that an average circulated roll will actually weigh out at the industry standard of .715 ozt per $1 face so some folks prefer to get the BU roll to ensure they're getting full silver value. It's up to them to decide if the BU premium is worth it.

Worn coins will have less silver, because it has, well, worn away! The more wear, the less silver. The greater the quantify of coins, like rolls, the more the difference will accumulate even if modestly circulated, hence the different sales prices in the example quoted.

Quote: Pre-64 quarters are going to be 90% .715 oz silver no matter how shiny they are. BU ? Circulated ? What difference does it make ? The difference is a $1 FV of Pre-65 BU quarters will contain .72336 ozt of silver and a $1 FV of average circulated Pre-65 is sold by most bullion dealers as containing .715 ozt of silver. The thing is, the .715 ozt per $1 FV is just a standard pricing technique. Few, if any dealers, actually weigh the coins to see what the actual silver weight (ASW) is. Even if they do weigh the coins part of that weight is dirt and grime, unless they've been cleaned first, which is rarely, if ever, done. So, like I said, some people want BU rolls to ensure they're getting full silver value even though the actual difference is likely to be very small. Plus, if they have the time and patience, they have the potential of selling the individual coins with a collector's premium if they're so inclined. There is no collector's premium for "junk" silver, hence the name.

Hero's has 4 Washington 90% quarters for $23.94 so figure 10 , which I usually buy, your at $239.40. Spot is at $235.32 with free shipping. $6 bucks profit I'll happily give them most of all they get it here so quickly. With silver inching towards $33 oz again maybe I'll pop for another pile of junk quarters.
They have half dollars at the same oz price as well.
