Very cool! Did this find occur in close proximity to an urban area, or way the heck out there in a Bitterroot watershed?

Way the heck out there 1944 - homestead. Given the condition (lack of wear) on the Buff, and that of the Morgan, I'll assume the drop happened 1936 to 1940.

Quick update:

1) Buffalo came along better than expected. I'm hesitant to claim 3.5 legs but one of the primary markers (rear leg fading into base) appears to be there so now I wonder. Will post separate thread on that. Still cull/details with pitting on Reverse but surprisingly void of most Reverse Verdigris.

2) Morgan - OMG I never wish leather-based build-up/encrustation on my worst enemy. It is so incredibly difficult to remove and, by far, the hardest restoration I've ever tackled. I'm making progress and will provide updated images when feasible.

Update on the Morgan. I have to say that it was - by far - the most difficult conservation I've undertaken. Something about the leather - dies, chemicals, etc - bonded to the coin and was extremely tough to remove.

Absolutely a details coin but happy to pop it in a holder and add to the 'best of' MD finds.

Details or not, that Morgan looks way better than it did. Good job on the restoration!
