AK has a lot of claimed PL and DMPL Morgan listings. AK's photos all show a white field and a blue bust. But that's not how PCGS DMPL and PL coins show in photographs. Frosty white bust and dark field. Some listings are probably doctored, but no one doctors them to have blue busts on white fields. What are AK's coin doctors smoking? Why would anyone buy a DMPL that doesn't look like a DMPL?

When you sell something , you no longer have any monetary interest in the item , so why do you care what the buyer does with it ? Sort of the same as selling your house and you don't like the renos and new paint colour the buyer did . You got paid , best advice move on . BTW the firm mentioned is a good one to not buy from . Definitely juiced , jacked photos.

I have moved on from this as there is no turning back, but I think it is important to call out the deceitful practices of a seller in hopes that others won't get burned.

Nice to see the deceit documented. Reading AK's hyperbolic descriptions was educational too. For instance, AK's rationale for selling coins raw is that grading services are deceitful. Yet AK freely uses terms like DMPL that were invented by the grading services. I trust PCGS more than AK selling raw blue Morgans that he calls DMPLs. And as you have documented ericgreen, your AU was never a DMPL in the first place.

Quote: Really a bummer for honest legitimate sellers, the rare few that are still on the site. While there are certainly some bad apples, the VAST majority of sellers on ebay are quite honest and legitimate

We should all do our best to bust crooked sellers whether we have an invested interest or not.

I can't help but wonder if this same coin will eventually resurface in another TPG holder? I seem to recall once reading about a major coin dealer who had purchased a heavily toned, AU flowing hair half or dollar. He dipped it and got it slabbed as MS-63. I believe this story was widely published some years ago. As I recall, that dealer was praised for his effort. The events leading to this post remind me of that event. Do any members recall this prior event?

It is nice to see that it is gone, but AK has plenty more just like it. I have my doubts that the coin itself was altered after being cracked out. The photos and exaggerated prose do that job well enough. "Semi proof like". Whatever that means. In its original holder it's a $500-600 coin. ebay has several listed right now. When the AK auction disappeared it was far lower than that.
