Thank you one and all
For your responses.
I'm going to get the roll from my bank
It is in a safe deposit box.
I don't think I can see the mint without opening the roll.
I will also take a photo and post it. Again,
Thank you all for the replies!

I agree with ijn1944--regardless of the value, it's a nice collectable. Kind of like a "First Day of Issue" for stamps.

I wonder if Post Offices would do something like that now or just look at you like you have two heads if asked to postmark something besides mail.

Hi
Once again thanks for all the replies. I'm new here and you guys have really impressed me with all the replies I received! Thanks, again.
I live in a small town and know most of the US Postal service employees here. However, I think that if you just pick a time when they're not busy and show some manners, I'm confident they'd do this. Costs them nothing and there's no real rule against it.

I wish that there's a way to see the mint mark as I've learned this makes a big difference. It could even have some mint errors, being it was the date of issue coins. which would increase the value I assume. I don't want to unwrap it as once that is broken, I can't get another postmark from that date of issue.
It is a nice collectible as is.
I wonder if the dollars are worth more than face value and then add a little for the postmark wrapper, as someone suggested.

Is it machine rolled where a face of each end coin is visible? If so and you are lucky enough to have the obverse showing on one or both ends, then the mint mark should be well within the visible area.

a nice collectable as-is. I'll come back when a photo is posted. maybe, if it is band or mint rolled the wrapper 'may' have the mint origin on it.

sounds like a neat collectible but unfortunately for the least popular coin

As far as for collecting, its a small but interesting series that has many varieties if into that as well. Some very high condition examples such as taken from such rolls do actually have high value so thats another possibility versus just selling the roll which is good if you don't really want to consider collecting or learning about grading condition, but not every coin is going to be in the very highest grade condition simply because it came from a mint roll. As you can see in this link, the very best condition examples have quite a bit more value than the normal condition most are found in. https://www.pcgs.com/prices/detail/.../most-active

Heres a couple articles on the series I have if you or others wish to collect those which also discuss the wide rim also you can look for

Yes I can understand some who don't really like it. I mentioned a bit about the popularity in a past reply here. http://goccf.com/t/457214#3964997
