I am thinking more of a mid to late-stage capped die strike. In other words Struck Through a Mid to Late Stage Die Cap. Thanks, Doug.

You have two overlapping brockages here. An expanded, late-stage, slightly rotated brockage and an unexpanded, incomplete brockage. The expanded brockage is the original (primary) brockage derived from the original raised design on the die cap's working face. The unexpanded brockage is a secondary brockage generated by a fresh raised design that was left on the die cap's working face when it clashed directly with the reverse die in the absence of a planchet. To put it more succinctly, this is a clashed cap strike.

It would be 1982 or older. They minted both types in 1982.
