I usually wait till the unc becomes available and buy both together to save on shipping. Any reason why I should subscribe?

Just to clarify, I was notified that the subscriptions for the proof sets I signed up for, I was told that( in an e-mail) they would start processing the order somewhere around 6-1-09, this means that they will start the process and ultimately ship them out soon after?

How much fear is there of a sell out? I guess out with the dang new cents. I like them, but they are creating a lot of problems :)

I don't think they limit proof sets. I appears there is no limit for the LP2 either. http://www.coinnews.net/2009/05/19/...n-four-days/

why in the world did they limit the first set and not the second set?

Because they didn't realize there would be that much demand for the roll sets. They thought 100,000 sets would be plenty. Then when it sold out in less than two weeks they realized there was a lot of demand so they took the limit off so everyone that wanted them could get them.

And if they hadn't, it probably would have sold out in less than a day and everyone would be screaming bloody murder because they sold out and they didn't get theirs.

Start the process yes, ship them out soon after who knows. Probably not because the sets will also go on sale that day and the order processing will be swamped.

I have been ordering from the mint since 1992. I have never subscribed, I just tried to remember towards the end of the year, to go online, or to call previous to Al Gores invention of the Internet, and order my proof, silver proof, and mint sets. I waited until they were all out, so they could all be shipped at once, and I would only have to pay shipping charges once.

Since 1992, there has only been a hand full of years that at least one item ordered, has not been on back-order, and I end up paying separate shipping charges anyway. With the way things are going in the numismatic world, and with the way the mint is being run lately, I don't want to get left behind with getting my sets, because they sold out, or only made certain amounts.

I didn't know about the subscription process until I was reading through a string the other day that mentioned it, and I checked it out. I subscribed, to at least get on the list. I figured that it was better to pay the $5 for shipping per item, as opposed to missing the product, and paying doubly the issue price, because I had to buy it second hand.
