Sorry to hear of your loss. Post a list of your supplies. I'm sure people hear will be interested. I hope you get back into it. Maybe start small with LMC's. Chris

Really sorry to hear about your loss. I dont know what I would do if mine were stolen. I'd be interested in seeing what books you have though. If you want to PM me, that's fine or just list them here. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the theft of your coins. Feeling must be devastating. As for your selling off the rest of your supplies/books the members of Coin Community would be fair and would like to help you out.
Listing them here would give you a wide audience as well as going to other coin enthusiasts.
Rest in Peace

Kerry, I can sympathize with you - a number of years ago I lost a Whitman folder of Morgans and Peace dollars that my grandmother had given to me to a thief. I hope you'll reconsider returning to the hobby - maybe in another area of coins - as I did, a number of years ago, but if you don't, please post what you'd be interested in selling here.

Wow, that really is sad. I am so sorry. It's a coinincidence this came up. On our autograph group today someone posted they were robbed of about 65 percent of their autographs (thousands of dollars). Then someone else posted they had a house fire and lost everything. I feel blessed; and it (and this post confirms my hard work will be worth it) and I am home inventoring everything and then I am headed right down to the insurance office to add a rider to my policy. I don't have as many coins etc as you all, but so far it's a close to 2k which is pretty good I think (though that's higher prices than I could sell it probably as I used Red Book).

I urge everyone to do this. I went around the house and took photos and everything. So far I've cataloged most of the coins and the art and most of the pottery etc. I've got so many autographs I can't! It'd take me a year just to do that. But all my graphs are online so that's sort of it's own database. I don't think I'll bother with clothing, furniture, electronics, linens and household stuff. Just collectibles. I've been at it a month already daily spending hours. You'd not imagine how much you have!!

Did you get your insurance to cover any of it? Hope so. Lesson here to all is stop procrastinating!

I remember your post about the original robbery, I am sorry you haven't been able to get back into the hobby. I think you are doing the right thing though, until those feelings of violation go away, you will never enjoy it. If you keep trying to force yourself to do something simply because you enjoyed it before, you may poison yourself forever against the hobby.
Take time, don't even think about when you might like to start again. One day you will see a coin you just have to have, and you will know you are ready again.
And one thing is for sure, all of us will be here to congratulate you when do.

Kerry67,
I suggest the first thing you do is buy yourself a real good safe, one that is fire proof as well as water proof and keep your interest in coin collecting going, don't let the idiot who stole your coins also steal your hobby, that would be a shame.May I suggest roll searching, that's what I do with Lincoln cents.Don't give up.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Maybe you should take a break and start with a different denomination or type. That'll renew your interest. Hang in there... time heals everything.

While I do not know you, I feel for your loss and the thought of being violated. I am sorry you were a victim of a loser and the disregard "he or she" had for other's property.I also would suggest you do not sell off your other belongings, some day you might get the urge to return to what obviously made you happy, I also can not imagine how I would feel, I hope you find it in yourself to some day return to something you put so much time and effort into, good luck, Mike......PS: What goes around, comes around!!

Don't give up on the hobby! Maybe you could try another denomination of coin. Remember there seems to be a general consensus that 2009 is going to be a GREAT year for the collector.

we (my girlfriend - actually) was also the victim of a home invasion robbery. she is a "jewelrey" fanatic, and lost 10's of thousand dollars of face value jewelrey - not to mention the personal violation of being robbed and the personal/sentimental value of many of the items, (including the engagement rig that I gave her).

her attitude was nearly exactly as you describe your views. gradually we have began replacing her beloved pieces with new replacements and have begun building a new collections of personal sentiments, and memories. one diamond piece in particular, I was able to find an EXACT" replacement piece, for one which I also gave the the original piece, along with a card which said basically "DONT LET THE BAD GUY'S WIN". someday I hope to replace the engagement ring with another one of equal or better value. the point being "DONT LET THE BAD GUYS WIN"! I hope your rebuild your valuable collection, and your interest in your passion.
