That gash is huge for the record. Anything over MS62 would be a miracle.
Better photos needed.

I can't see this above 63. Maybe better images would help.

Quote:While I agree it's a solid 63 with a shot at 64 but examples like the below PCGS graded coin makes me day dream of a 65 :-) https://www.pcgs.com/cert/35520999 That image shows few shallow marks, nothing deep. Although the chatter quantity may be similar, your coin has deeper cuts which hurt the grade. MS-64 tops. Quote: That gash is huge for the record. Anything over MS62 would be a miracle. If you would categorize that contact mark as "huge" you haven't looked at enough Morgan dollars.

The context was I didn't like it as a 64 or 65 based on how large the gash was.
It might make a 63/64 but it isn't choice imho.

There is a significant hit with displaced metal on the eagle's wing, behind the neck. I'd think MS-63 will be the max for this coin.

Cheek marks will drag it down me thinks. MS62, I'd throw it in my book.

They really like coins that show no wear. And are forgiving of a few bag marks.
