I haven't searched nickels in a few months, but I bought a box yesterday. All shiny new 2023s; it was not what I wanted. So, I swapped them at a friendly bank for a mix of CWR and MWR that weren't brand new.
In the CWR, I found 14 excellent 2024-Ps. I haven't searched in MWR yet; we'll see if they yield anything. But it seems that the 2024-Ps are getting around in my area. I have seen no 2024 Denver coins yet in Cincinnati, and we're far west enough to usually get a good mix of both major mints.
Has anyone learned why the 2024 nickel mintages were so low? The 2025 numbers are already much higher.

I found many 2024 P, and today found my first (2)2025 P and (60) BU 2025 D Nickels. I also found 2 more 2009's and 2 upgrades for my third collection book. UNC 1947D and a semi key date 1948S.

Oddly enough I've been averaging 6-8 2024 per box each week - both P and D. Two weeks ago I got an entire box of 2025, not sure if I'll keep or dump it back yet.

I opened full box of uncirculated 2025P nickels. I understand there may be errors in these coins. Anyone have info. on this?

Just updating this topic... So, late last year, I started finding more 2024-D coins locally. 2024-Ps continued to be very elusive... On February 17, 2026, I scored 190 brand new 2024-D nickels - most of them came out of four almost OBW of 2024-Ds, with the rolls containing between 32 and 37 of them each. To date, I've found about 1,400 2024-Ds, and 28 2024-Ps... yes, a far cry from where I was at a year ago at this time. I also made a trip out to the Vegas area a month and a half ago, and had good success, finding 8 2024-Ds in 4,000 nickels searched. Am curious as to how others across the country are doing finding the 2024 nickels... I'm in Southern California... as with the 2009-D coins, it appears that Southern California and the Vegas area are places where the coins were well-distributed (even if it took time to get them out)...

In Cincinnati I have found about 120 2024-Ps but only three 2024-Ds. I sold two rolls of the 2024-Ps for about 3x face value. I am starting to see the 2026-P nickels now.
