Nice photos. Like others, I'm seeing a good deal of circulation damage and some crud accumulation on the reverse. The coin didn't leave the striking chamber in this condition.

Welcome to CCF! =)

Alas, that looks like post-mint damage. Some coins have hard lives in circulation.

Hi guys! Thanks so much for your help! Just curious, what in the world could actually cause the metal to smear or smudge like that? For future reference what causes this type of damage? Also is this some sort of doubling around the lettering? (This is the same coin, it's really got a lot going on!)

Doubling on the reverse lettering appears to be Machine Doubling.

to the CCF and all of this is damage with a little Machine Doubling. Anything can cause this damage. Looks like it spent a little time on a parking lot.

That's for all the help guys! Extremely impressive how quickly everyone responded and the amount of honest engagement. I genuinely feel welcomed with just my first post. Some what unexpected when you're new and mostly dense compared to everyone else! I sincerely appreciate it! I have so many coins and so many questions... Can y'all tell me is it acceptable frowned upon to post constantly? Because I honestly don't know but have such a desire to learn...also find it easier to learn from specific examples rather than general topics if that makes sense? My next coin I've been waiting so, so long for some answers to *Excited!

The doubling on the reverse is Machine Doubling. Machine Doubling usually reduces the size of the affected device.

Post as much as you want to. Keep it one coin per thread with clear in-focus photos and you'll receive plenty of CCF expert help.
