I know, hard to see in the photos, but these streaks are the exact color of the copper on the clad rim and are all over the obverse ( when magnified.can only see with the naked eye once you know they are there).

I see it. I wonder if the clad layer is just super thin in that area that makes the copper show through?

It seems more likely that there is a bit of copper in the cupronickel surface. It's composed of 75% copper, 25% nickel, after all. Another possibility is that it was exposed to acid or another chemical that brought copper to the surface, selectively removed the nickel, or stained the metal a coppery color.

I like the poor alloy mix in the clad layer explanation.

The cladding is comprised of 75% copper, and sometimes under certain conditions, the copper can migrate to the surface.

Alloy mix of clad layer isn't perfect on this coin. Shows light areas of copper color. It happens.

My bet is that in a pile of planchets the edge of one rubbed against the flat surface of another leaving a streak in the same way as when using a gold test stone.
