Hopefully everything is recovered and the bad guys end up taking a few pieces of lead in the capture.

That way they can't do it again. Dead men cause few problems.

Was it a high crime area, or is Salem a somewhat dangerous city?

This is such a shame! And if they catch them they'll probably get off with community service and a couple years probation. It's just plain wrong!

Its a shame that the robbers most likely get away with the crime!the police have a lot more crimes that rate a higher investigation robbery which is a shame!
But we can only hope there not that smart!! most jerk & dope heads are not and they slip up and get arrested. and the coin are recovered!

They used the Taser on the shop owner at least 10 times, he said, leaving multiple pockmarks on his stomach

Makes me sick. Maybe these criminals will try this again and the shop owner blows them away.

I hope their cell mates are :

6'5" 275 pound avid weight lifters with gang affiliations and ......let's say......a lot of "issues" including anger management problems !. ....

...and that they or a family member has had a coin collection stolen in the past! That would definitely seal the deal!

This is a disgrace, I know one of the coin shops I frequent has been robbed a dozen times in the last 30+years. I know the last time, about 2-months ago, the 66-year old owner chased the person who grabbed the coin binder, and ran, only to find, the binder was chained down to the floor and it ripped out of his hands and the thief got nothing but caught later from some photo's taken at the shop from the owner's cameras. These things are going on more and more, Beware......

To bad we all don't have Texas "self" defense laws. I think in Texas you can shoot them in the back if they steal from you or a friend. :)

I hope that two crooks will be caught, so that they will never do such crimes like this in other coin shops.

What happen to the laws protecting us from "armed" robbers ? My only regret is the other guy didn't get capped too.

The books are full of laws that are not even slightly inforced. And the ones that are become a joke. Even murderers get out on bail and kill again. Same with most criminals and they know it so for them, why not. Due to the ecomomy and the increase in coin stores, those type of robberies will escalate continuously. Also, more robberies of coin dealers at coin shows, flea markets, etc.
One of the worst parts of all these type of robberies after the danger to the ones robbed is what happens to the coins. Most criminals are not Numismatist and usually just spend the coins as what they are, money. They are not about to try selling them when a coin counting machine in a bank or store will just give them currency for those coins.
