Quote: I don't think the MM position is the issue here. For an uninformed new collector don't you think that would be a good starting point? Yes or no........

Marve - my concern would be that the MM position might initially mislead a potential buyer.

Regardless if people do not know the characteristics of a fake coin, cast or not, the MM location is always easy to look up on the internet and compare them. EDIT: After all - that is how you distinguish RPM's and other varieties.

Sorry, guessing not everyone is as clever as you researching MM positions before making a purchase decision.

Wait - you're saying "common sense" should stop a newbie from buying this coin? Really?

Mint Mark is not the same shape on the OP coin compared to the real mint mark.
EDIT: I understand what you are saying but I was just trying to show the genuine example compared to the fake coin the OP is asking about. I never thought trying to help people see the difference would be met with pushback.

GOD was the give away for me that it's fake but that die chip in the left wheat is confirmation as well
The detailed discussion of the MM position is great for newer collectors It helps them look at this info from different points of view and understand how to compare for themselves Kudos guys.
