Bought this from a Florida show years ago

Florida, you say? I wonder if it's a Silverstone creation?

@HondoBoguss, quite possible, though the seller didn't realize it was fake either and gave me a full refund.

You should see about getting it back, Vorpaledged - at a discount, of course. I have the feeling that Silverstones will become sought-after fakes.

I have my reservation about that, not sure how collecting fake coins will become popular amongst coin collectors, for show and tell maybe gaining market carrying no numismatic premium I have my doubts.

...bought years ago on ebay...seller refused return...this is a well-known, well done copy of an original, & has fooled at least 1 major auction house ... listed on Dan Sedwick's website (see pic) ...

...supposedly a late 1500s / early 1600s Spanish colonial 4 reales from Potosi, bolivia

thanks, guys...it's cast, not struck as all cobs were, ...dan Sedwick had it featured for a while on his "Modern Pirates" (fake cobs to avoid) section for a while ... a $75 (in 1999) lesson for me ...
