I agree on the small market. There was a post a couple of years ago with a similar coin struck on a tapered plan. I'm not sure if he ever sold it. Would definitely be worth looking for to see if it hurt the value of the coin.

Posting to continue watching the thread. Apparently the two threads were merged and both of my posts were removed in the process (leading to dangling quotes and references in other posts). Unfortunately I no longer have the text of either post, so I cannot give the links I originally provided.

Just to add a bit after seeing the slabbed coin, a "re-colored" designation on a '55 DDO-001 would be a "no way" in my book. Would be equal to an Earl Sheib's paint job on a '67 GTO.

Honestly the way they labeled it "laminations" with recolored isn't a plus to any buyer. It's like they are both reasons for the MS60 grade. You've got a tough sell on your hands imo.

Good afternoon!
I want to thank each and EVERY ONE of you for your feedback... it is GREATLY appreciated!
With that being said, yes, I am new to this site, and have made my share of unintentional 'mistakes'. I had no idea that "upper case" words or phrases were a form of "yelling" or "screaming"... that was definitely NOT my intent, and I apologize for those who I offended. In regards to 'multiple' posts, I ran into a few instances where my original post was "locked" for editing... again, I apologize.
At this point, I am recovering from a much-needed total left hip replacement, and had just started physical therapy yesterday.
So, feel free to give constructive criticism, as my 'learning process' continues to evolve.
Once again, I want to thank you ALL for your feedback.
Have a healthy, happy, and safe day.
Regards,
RJS

You should post a picture of the slab in your listing.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Also if you are going to post pictures of a graded coin, you have to show the TPG holder. It is against ebay policy to claim it is graded without showing the information. Without this info, your coin could be removed for selling a raw coin over $2500.00. Sorry Hondo, didn't mean to repeat what you said. Didn't realize there were two pages and only read to the bottom of the first page.

The slab is there, you just have to scroll down through the pictures.

Good afternoon, After thinking things over, I decided to just keep my rare ANACS authentic, unique, major 'variety' 1955 DDO "Die 1", combined with significant lamination 'errors', and 'damaged' (recolored) to pass on to a family member in my last will and testament. I knew a fella years ago, that was a PCGS grader. He indicated that there was one or more products that can be used 'safely' to remove the 'recoloring'. I believe that these products were quite expensive, but that he had used them on rare coins, sent them directly to PCGS for grading/slabbing, and they all came back problem-free. I think that the one product was a coin 'rinse', and the other product was a coin 'conditioner'. Anyways, he had great success purchasing 'problem' coins like mine, and had great success with PCGS, coming back problem-free, and assigned an official grade. So, I will be ending my listing on ebay since there is actually little, to no interest. I want to give you ALL a sincere thanks for helping me out throughout these questions and answers. * Please feel free to 'delete' my thread(s), since it is just an unimportant topic, an other, more important topics can take it's place. Thanks again... it's been a real pleasure. God bless you all, and our nation, as we face these hard times in our economy. Sincerely, RJS

It is definitely worth keeping, this coin! It's way better than my '55 DDO-001. As it doesn't exist..
