I am glad I bought my graded coins already graded.

Is there some massive rush to have collectibles graded lately, or is there another reason for the backlogs? For example, did the TPGs do layoffs or something? It seems like they have enough business.

Also, trading card grading submissions--largely driven by Pokemon fanatics--began spiking last December, and remain at very high levels today...according to a card shop owner I spoke with last week. January through March it was nearly impossible to purchase new Pokemon card products through established retail sources...all bought up quickly by crazed speculators.

Then the next question becomes, what is driving a Pokemon card speculation frenzy? You'd think dealers would have been through that enough times with baseball cards, CCG cards, novelty cards, Beanie Babies to know how it ends.
In that regard, the TPGs are in the prime position. They are selling pickaxes and dynamite during a gold rush.

Don't want to take this thread too far astray.... With regard to Pokemon, I witnessed a near brawl at a local Costco at the end of 2024--eight to ten 20-somethings converged on a just stocked palette of Pokemon box and tin bundles consisting of an immensely popular card set. The store had just opened and these guys--most knew each other--sprinted down an aisle and converged on the display. They grabbed armfuls of product, with some of it spilling onto the floor. All items were gone and paid for in under 10 minutes. Check out YouTube videos of similar incidents at other Costcos.

World econ just moved to "Scheduled for Grading" about 4 months later.
Meanwhile my PCGS world submission has been back a month. Oh how the tides have shifted....

I haven't noticed a recent uptick in TPG ads--but that's just me.

Well another month has passed and no results. I suspect I'll get getting my world Econ sub in early July. That I dropped off at Winter FUN. In early January. Le sigh.
