Doubling on the Tie, lips, nose, and eye are there - the counterfeits I've seen usually never take the time to copy those.

I agree, but a quick inspection with a loup for die markers will let you know for sure.

I'm leaning towards counterfeit. To me, it Lincoln's nose appears slightly pointed. It caught my attention right away, and while slight, it's very bothersome to me. I've compared it to several 1955 coins, both the DD and normal strikes, it still looks odd to me.

Question: are the markers under the T visible only on early die state?

The twin die scratches under the "T" should still be visible even after the heavy Stage B polishing. That's a key marker that was not abraded by the second heavy die polishing in Stage B.

The more I look at this coin, the more I'm just not sure. It appears to have been struck in collar. It certainly looks like it has some die polishing marks, and most cast counterfeits won't. But the surface conditions do not look natural and really don't look like polishing. The details seem too sharp for a transfer die counterfeit, but it could be spark erosion.

Indeed it will. All I was doing was stating a fact - never made a statement of genuine or fake.

I'm not an expert, but if this is a fake, it's a good one.

I'm thinking it's genuine in my opinion. It also appears to have an old cleaning too.

OP, How about that closeup of the die marker at the T? That will tell us the whole story.

Looking at quite a few fakes I usually find the flaws quickly. Can't find any with
current photos. As mentioned earlier, I too, don't like the nose on the OP's coin.
Still, .
