I would say high EF. The reverse looks like some sort of clash on the top half of the coin.

Nobody got it! I fully expected this coin to go XF 40-45 at least with hopes of a 50-53 in there. I will probably be resubmitting this one , but not to NGC. I am done with their under grading lately and their rediculous wait times (that are never correct on their site) and the last straw is this new "pay extra and we promise we will get it done faster" Fastback BS.

JMHO, but I'd break it out and not submit it again. You see the range of opinions on this board. That same range would be seen on a bourse floor.

Ouch, I didn't see that coming.

I definitely also thought reverse was stronger but XF-45 was my thought as well.

with Fortcollins. Terribly undergraded by NGC and with the opinions provided here by our experts all seemingly in the same range of high XF- low AU. I would crack it out and keep it raw. I would also mention the reverse clash on a 2x2 for it.

I could see 40 but not less. I wonder if it was net graded for some issue?

I usually put my Half Dimes, silver treys, and gold dollars in Capital Plastics holders, simply because the coins are so small and fragile and the holders give them protection and are easy enough to open for inspection.

I wouldn't waste money sending it in for grading again.

i dont think you photos show the surfaces well with the glare from overhead lighting as based on these I would have thought it had a good chance of detailing for two reasons. one, it looks like an old cleaning and re-toned. they probably passed this as it was not harshly but again its hard to see the actual surfaces. second, the hit on the obverse at star 1 has displaced metal. in most cases this would pull a damaged designation. they may have passed it on this due to its size and location. I agree with BH1964 that they may have netted the grade on it rather than detail it. personally I would not take a chance sending it to like PCGS. it could possibly come in a details holder.
XF40 on the grade netted to VF35
