Obverse looks higher than low AU but reverse looks XF, total net low AU-50/53.

Quote: Would this grade at EF? I'm kinda confused...? It's a $2.20 coin (melt) does EF really matter on a 63-D rossie couple of ryes in me...but come on...you have more credibility in your replies then posting this for a reply... Sorry...it was a bad day today...just looking for something cool...this just struck a nerve... still look fwd to your posts and replies... smat

Smat45, I'm just asking what grade it would grade at. No need to be snarky. It's unnecessary. It's also a 1963 P, not a 1963 D. I still struggle sometimes grading coins. I know it's not worth much. I also know that it's not worth slabbing. I also said "Would this grade at EF" in my post, not in a reply. I also forgot to mention that this was a CoinStar find, so I didn't pay anything for it. Not trying to start trouble or anything. I apologize if I seem defensive. I just want to be respected. I hope you have a better day.

I say XF45 range with splotchy toning that detracts from the eye appeal.

I would say XF45, based on PhotoGrade. That reverse looks worn from many small dings. Also, the rims have taken some punishment.
I do agree that the obverse looks AU. That dirt or tarnish is distracting, I wonder if a hot water soak and then an acetone soak would remove some of the crud. I know we are supposed to ignore that when grading, but it makes my brain say that this coin was used roughly.
Caveat: I am no grading pro, and certainly not for dimes.

Thank you, Brandmeister. The good thing is I got this for free. I think it was a CoinStar find, so I'm not worried. A soak in hot water and acetone might improve it like you said.
