Quote: I wonder if this would be the first time a new series was printed with signatures of a Treasury Secretary and Treasurer with neither of them in office at the time? No. For example: Mnuchin (Secretary) / Carranza (Treasurer) signature notes were printed long after they had left office.

Yes, but the series was started and first printed while they were in office. It's not that unusual for a series to continue to be printed for a while after the Secretary and Treasurer have left office.
I'm wondering if this is the first time a series is first printed with the names of folks who are no longer in office.

Absolutely no reason they can't sign and get the ball rolling already on 2025 notes. IDK why they always seem to see this as an afterthought.

When I was checking to see if any BEP production reports past Apr 2025 are available (there currently aren't any), I took another look at the BEP's Mar 2025 production report. I'm not 100% convinced that any 2021 series $2 star notes were printed The report says J* $2 notes were printed BUT it also says that the series letter for the notes was "Q". Unless things have changed, $1 and $2 FRNs don't have a series letter, so a "Q" series letter is not consistent with past practice. It could be there is a typo in the denomination column and $2 isn't correct. Maybe these were in fact $5 QJ* notes. Guess we'll just have to wait until more BEP reports are available to verify series 2021 $2 FRNs have been printed

QJ 000 00001 * for $5 was already printed October 2023 QJ 032 00000 *
QJ 032 00001 * in March 2025 could be $5 not $2 i.e. a typo QJ 064 00000 *
QJ 000 00001 * in March 2025 could not be $5 though: that would collide QJ 005 00000 *
Time will tell...

Quote: ...could not be $5 though: that would collide RIght you are. I didn't check to see if any $5 QJ* notes had been printed when I said maybe these could be $5s. Can't be 10s or 100s either as those have been printed. They could be 20s. Twenties would be an easy typo. Leave off the 0 and $20 becomes $2. Plus, it looks like the series 2021 $20 FRNs began printing in Jan 25. Having the first * notes printed in March seems consistent with this start of printing

I sent a request for clarification to the BEP. Let's see if they respond...

It's getting better. And by that I mean it's getting worse. Over on another forum someone got the May-to-August reports. And in the August report those exact $2 notes show up once again... March 2025 August 2025

I filed an electronic FOIA request with the BEP, to get to the bottom of this, i.e. a review and correction of their 2025 reports, and a return to the decade old practice of linking the monthly reports on their public website in a timely fashion. Stay tuned...

Looks like these notes were printed in the new fifty notes per sheet format. Were the 2017- A $2's printed in this format also?

An update.
My BEP FOIA request was unsuccessful.
"The BEP FOIA program does not correct error elsewhere."
At this point it's probably gonna take a request to the office of the director...
