Quote:Do you think it's worth sending to a TPG? if it was my coin I would get it graded it is one of the better dates in the popular lincoln series and it is in pretty good shape. so the value should go up as time goes by in my opinion.

Very sweet coin fmtaxguy. I agree it's EF but with the good strike and eye appeal I'd value it at AU50 which would be about $250 retail. TPG one that one is a matter of preference. I'd probably leave it raw.

Could someone point out to me the particulars as to what is preventing this coin from being a true AU? It would assist in my education greatly. Thanks.

According to ANA standards, the hair above the ear on the obverse does not show wear in AU. I use my ANA Grading Standards book a lot. It's a learning tool everyone should have.

Yeah I love this one, very nice on the eyes. My book would grade it EF45 all day. Send it off to a TPG and if you do post your results.

45, tried hard to make it more but 1964 is right about the wear over the ear. Man, what a nice strike. Want to sell it? Jim

Jim, dunno. I don't even really know how that process would work. And remember, I may be easy, but I ain't cheap......

fmtaxguy, I would be willing to pay the ask price in the Graysheets. Don't know what that is right now but could find out if you are interested. As an adjunct, you might also consider sending to a TPG. If it comes back higher that 45 you make out, though, I don't think it will with the rub on the hair. The reverse of that, naturally, is that it comes back lower and ...... Anyway, give me your thoughts. Jim

Jim, any idea what the Greysheet ask price is on this one? I don't subscribe. Thanks.

Ah. Thanks, bherring1964. Trying to help part Jim from his money? At that ask price, however, I don't think I'm ready to sell yet. I paid pretty much top dollar because I was taken with the eye appeal of this coin, and just got it in hand yesterday. I'll enjoy it for a time, and consider sending it in somewhere for grading.
