Quote: Funny you would mention Jon, he had one in his case at WFoM. He has 3 on his website, two 1970Ds and a 1976. Those are great examples but that 1976 is a wrong planchet not a wrong stock error.

Quarters struck on dime stock are known from many years, including 1965 - 1967. I've seen a number from 1966.

So I reached out to Mr. Sullivan and he offered me $225.00 for it. Thoughts from the group?

Why would you take it, if I may ask. The mere fact that he send me back an offer 2 minutes after I sent him the email, tells me that it is worth alot more than $225. If do you research, it is under the category as coin struck on a dime planchet. Prices for those have been as high as $7000. It continues on to say that the ones struck on 10c stock in a high MS grade range from 1K to 2.5K.

The link to Sullivans website shows he selling an AU55 one for $125 so the offer doesn't seem bad.
Where does it say these are worth thousands?

@CoinHi, I hear what your saying about Mr. Sullivan's 2 coins that he is selling but they are not MS nor are they 1965's. I have asked if anyone knows or seen any 1965's with this type of error that has been sold either on GC or ebay. I still can't seem to find another example. So with that I have to believe that this coin is worth more than $225.

I would like to see where you got this information. I will not lie, I know nothing about what it should be worth but do not understand where you got this number from. @makecents, I was reading it this morning on my phone. I was trying to find it again but could not find it. The price for 7k was talking about the 1965 quarter struck on a silver planchet. But then it referred also to one's struck on dime stock going for 1K to 2K. I still can't find any examples anywhere for those prices. Yet to see any 1965's with this error. Sorry for the confusion.

Quarters struck on a dime planchet can be worth a lot in mint condition. Quarters struck on dime stock don't seem to command large premiums. I am having a hard time imagining that a mint State Quarter struck on dime stock is $1000-2000 when there is a clear history of AU examples selling for $100-200. That's just a gut feel though, if research contradicts that idea then I'm not too attached to the notion.

It's a great looking error coin and maybe worth a bit more than $225 but question is will you get that in an auction.
Mike Diamond commented that he's seen a "number" of these from 65-67 so the rarity factor likely isn't there.
