Excuse me for interrupting the party - but why is this thread in the US classic & colonials forum.  My input on the coin is it looks legit but I'm no expert. It would be great to uncover a true 1914-D LWC in that condition. I do say with certainty that this post needs to move to US Modern coins. Message sent to do so.

As others have said, looks like a legit 14-D to me as well. I'll add one more thing: All genuine 1914-D cents never at all had a VDB on the coin anywhere; it was not restored to the coin until 1918 on the shoulder.

Respectfully, that D mintmark looks like the style used much later on in the LWC series, the 4 also looks like it's from a 1940s LWC (the 4 on 1914s was taller and skinnier) and the second 1 of the date appears to have some tooling marks on either side. Just what I'm seeing here.
