So how do I get a refund? I am totally new to bidding on ebay. I went to the link Adam126402 put up and posted the three coins I bought from CnC recently.

There is a raised line at about 10:30 that does not really show up well on the photo I posted. Using my 10x B&L Hastings Triplet magnifier, I see it continues through the leaf to its right and into the next leaf parallel to the midrib of the leaf. It crosses the gap into the right arc of leaves. I lose it in those leaves. Not sure if it connects into the crack that begins at the rim and even looks like it is on the edge of the coin. There is a very noticeable gap as the crack passes between two dentils and across the top edge of the rim.

The coin weighs 4.665 grams. I have a cheap scale, so I don't trust the third decimal place. Maybe not even the second. But I don't want to spend thousands on a lab grade balance I could trust.

Errers and Varietys posted that he saw wipe marks from an old cleaning on the Obverse. I just looked at it with my 10x hand lens and compared to the photo. I didn't see most of them. The coin has a sheen to it. Could it be oiled to make it look better? Can I soak it with dish detergent and not ruin the coin to see if it will make a change? Yea or Nay?

If you can return the coin for a refund, I would not do anything to the coin. My question is how this seller is allowed to continue the fake bidder scheme.

Jerry, did you decide on whether you're going to return it? You mentioned possibly treating the coin to remove oil or other film.

I decided to keep the coin. Why? I really like it. Did I pay too much? According to a lot of the responses on this forum I did. As others have said, I'm chalking it up to my tuition. Do I like to pay more than an item is worth? No. ( How is worth determined: rarity, demand, availability? I like the coin and don't want to wait for another.) Did I know fake bidding could occur? No. I am pretty gullible it seems. I am also very new to using ebay. I signed up long ago because of the Tropical Fish Hobby. I never really went to it or used it. Now with the renewed interest in coin collecting I started. Seems most of the people I looked at are on the black list here. I guess the software knows how to find suckers. Even today when I did a search using this forums ebay member list, I put a lot of coins in my watch list. I went back to look at all of what I chose and began deleting those I eliminated. I found ebay put back some I deleted. They would disappear if I refreshed the page. ebay really wants to promote sales. I was trying to whittle down my list of blanks in the Danco Type book I'm trying to fill. I watched all I saw that were blank in my book or were of better grade than what I had. ebay put back some of what I eliminated. Not nice.

I am using money I've been saving for many years for discretionary uses from wages I've earned in retirement at a local greenhouse as a knowledgeable laborer/salesperson (salesman really). Money has also come from gifts etc. It is not coming from my families normal budgetary spending. So it is discretionary. In the end, this collection will be given to my son when I die. I am going to enjoy the beauty of the coins while I'm still here. What more can I say? Am I buying for investment? Kind of, but not really. Make sense?

Jerry, I totally understand and appreciate your perspective on this. Good for you. I've returned a fair number of coins over the last three or four years but also have some regret on a few that although details coins, they were still quite pleasing to me.
Looking forward to seeing more postings from you as you work on your collection!

You like it, so you kept it. Nothing wrong with that.
