Not DDO-001 but I do see some nice Machine Doubling on the date, maybe the motto too. DDO-001 has the re-engraved tie, ODV-028, yours is not, you have the ODV-027 obverse.

Looks like DDO to me.

not sure why VV notes a re-engraved tie but doesn't show a photo of it in the listing.

In fact, none of the attribution sites show the tie.

Not seeing it guys. Here is a side by side comparison of the ties, and not saying Dr. Wiles is not capable of making a mistake, but that would be a big one and don't see it happening.

pound, could you give us a nice clean shot of LIBE of LIBERTY? With that, I can probably put this to bed.

I am not sure about IGWT and possible doubling, but with makecents in that the date looks like classic Machine Doubling, at least to me...

For sure MD on the date. I might be able to photograph the die crack described on Wexler's site, https://doubleddie.com/661955.html but in hand the extra width in the motto is quite clear. I'll try to light this thing up better and put up some better photos. Thank you ALL for your input thus far - greatly appreciated!

While I jigger with lighting to capture the separation lines in the motto, which I can see through my loupe, here are two images of LIBE in LIBERTY.

Thank you for the extra pics, pound_foolish, it looks like I will have to eat a little crow. I noticed some knobs at the top of the I and B of LIBERTY the protruded from the tops of the letters moving directly west that showed on all three of the listings and it shows on yours too. In my opinion, this is a smoking gun to being a match for the same die as the DDO, unless this was a working hub issue and do not think so after looking at several other 71D's that do not have this. I still think this is quite odd that Dr. Wiles called out the re-engraved tie, and yours does not have it, a mistake I guess....

All that being said, congrats on the find and sorry for doubting you.

ADDED: forgot to add the pic of the protrusions and the doubled L.

No apologies necessary! I only wish my scope was better. Agree, you can see the thickness in the horizontal bar of the L and that weird protrusion on the top left corner of the B that appears on all of the big three sites. I will keep working to show the separation lines in the motto for the sake of completeness.some of these varieties are tough enough to identify once circulated, making the photo captures a practice in patience.

I agree no apologies necessary. This is an open forum of opinions.

The MM location is a match too and helped with my initial take. Also, that fat G stem stands out to me.

Without photos of the tie on VV its hard to say why Dr. Wiles included that. Maybe it was info from another listing that got left behind?

Very good point, I did not think of that. I've actually seen that happen before when adding a replacement listing.
