I have to agree with EV here , how can we say that it's glue ? , even I have posted some like it , ( maybe not that extreme but with nice RIDB ) .

Nice RIDB. That's a crazy die break above the head!

Yes, cracked skull/die cracks. Not uncommon with the '55 Philly cent. I have a few dozen of these--very similar to the posted pics.

C'mon guys, it's not glue. You're wrong, JimmyD.

Yes and No ! we need to consider the fact that we are making our conclusion based on looking at a picture versus close examination in hand , some errors are a clear cut and easy to tell and some ARE NOT !
I don't think we are necessarily here to prove each other WRONG!
so yes the opinions may differ and that's what I always suggest to refrain from harsh responses, there are plenty knowlegeable members here to shed the light on the subject and that's the key to this Forum : dialog, sharing knowledge.

I apologize for the harsh response. I was just a little frustrated as I saw it wasn't glue. I just didn't want the OP to brush the coin off as PMD, as it wasn't. Everything is good. I'm not mad at anyone.

The most important thing here is that we as a collective can get the right information to an Op (sometimes eventually)

I was just about to jokingly say it's a bullet wound from the 1860's, but that would be just wrong. ErrorsRCool. Sorry!

Cracking and sinking in of the die face. Such "cracked skull" cents are common in the 1950s.
