I have a few Half Cents and they are kind of special to me. In general, I stay away from holed or stamped coins. If a coin has a hole or stamp, does it reduce the value of the coin?

Jimbo48, coins with holes, especially old Classic coinage, does reduce the value by quite a bit. I might upgrade it in the future, but for now, I'm happy to have it. I don't usually buy holed coins either. This was a steal though, as these go for a lot more without holes.

Yes it was a great deal. I won an auction for a dozen large cents and got an 1837 token cent with a hole in it. I have often wondered how much that reduced its value. I have talked with people that only collect stamped coins. I just think it just ruins the coins collectability to most people.

It's fun to have any example of such an early American coin. I don't have any Draped Bust coins, yet. Congrats!

Thank you, Bump111. I bought it from the same seller on Etsy that I bought my Draped Bust Large Cent from.

I like it. Draped Bust Half Cents on a budget are tough, owning them at prices like that you just have to accept the condition for what it is. Damage like that does not change the fact that you own a Half Cent minted in 1806 in the US's first small fledgling mint in Philadelphia. Nice grab.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread since this is important for these type coins. What's the best way to halt the corrosion on early copper? Can corrosion continue even after it's been slabbed?

Those are great questions. You can halt and stabilize corrosion by applying Verdi-Care on your coin. https://verdi.care/?srsltid=AfmBOoq...3U62lAUjqmJz Since slabs aren't airtight, corrosion can continue, especially if it's not stored properly in a good environment.
