Rainbow toning is unstable.
If you want to keep it looking like this, it has to be sealed from the air.
A spray with clear acrylic lacquer will achieve the result.

Isn't lacquer considered a form of coin damage?

Test check first to make sure on a coin of no value.
Encapsulate it to protect the thin spray covering.

Acrylic lacquer easily removed with acetone.

I would not recommend lacquer. Air tight capsule would be better.

won't lacquer yellow over time?
It can, depending on the formula used and storage environment.

I think an air-tite would be much better and risk free.

It's in an old capital holder with three complete proof sets. the 1952 quarter and half are also toned nicely too.
