I think you mean to say that it is 'Rare' not rear., but we need additional information in order to help you out. (see my post right above )

No Dearborn - it's a "rear" coin - you see how it was minted with buffalo's rear up in the air?

How can we tell if it is " rare" if we don't even know the date.
A photo of the obverse is required before making a statement.
Also please tell us why you think it is rare.

The OP states that the coin is rare because of it's condition. Better photos would help a lot

Yeah well the condition is not very good - the horn is almost worn off, and the tail tip, is completely worn down. Is it rare? no, is it a nice looking (reverse side) buffalo? yes.

But the question remains, is it a common Buffalo, or a key?

to the CCF, Astaroth1999.
Your second file overwrote the first. You need to rename your files on upload. There is a box to rename the file you are uploading (its CCF name) without affecting the file name on your device. I indicated the box with a red arrow below.

to the CCF

Stay with it, you'll get the photo upload figured out eventually.

There ya GO!! great job.
Just remember every image MUST have a different file name when uploading images on the same day..
The CCF upload system adds a date to the image file, so if you want to reuse a file name, you will have to wait until the next day.

but onto your initial Question - is this nickel rare (rear)?
I would say no, with 17,826,000 of them minted, there are a lot of them around.
this one has seen a lot of circulation but mot so much that the date was worn off. - it is a nice looking coin.
