@jbuck: hair today; gone tommorrow, as the time honored saying goes.
No haircuts for me in over ten years. I just hand my bro a pair of scissors (when he is in a good mood)
and tell him to clip half an inch off the back to even it up.
No h/c = $100 extra a year to spend on coins. Or whatever.

I took a good look at your 7070. Some very nice pieces in there, among others I would definitely want to upgrade.
It's curious how common 1827 bust halves are. That's my year also.
'One of theze daze" I will get the whole thing photo'd.
Have you ruled out doing the gold page?

Indeed. I have been using electric clippers on my own head for about 20 years now. I was stunned when I recently found out what my follicly blessed coworkers are paying for cuts now.

I have always lived by this rule for album holes: once filled, stays filled, no upgrades.

But that does not mean I will not try to do better. I created a second Eisenhower dollar set in PCGS slabs to upgrade/compliment my original set in the Dansco album. I have considered doing the same for my type set. Otherwise, it is what it will be for the duration.

Interesting.

Yes. With gold what it is now, that ship has long sailed.

Priorities, priorities. I am sure some of those holes will fill easily if you put on a search.
Of course the higher your grade standard, the slower they will appear.

yep, that is so very true - I'm aiming for AU and above grades for my coins - on the more modern coins, I opted to have them in proof condition, I think they look great in the pages. As I gradually go back to the older ones, my standards drop a bit, but I will always look for the highest grade I can find in mt budget.

I have a loose xtra high grade SLQ if that would help you.

That would be great if you can let it go - just tell me what you want for it and I'll see if I can afford it (My budget has changed drastically at the moment as I was forced into early retirement as the company I (used) to work for, for 20 years, decided to liquidate my department and let everyone in it go. I came out the best of them all due to my age (63) and I had planned ahead for such things.

My needs turned into wants, my wants turned into maybe, and my maybes have become a we'll see how it goes.

It seems that I missed this post of your
Ok, yes, the statement was directed at jbuck, but I think it could also pertain to me as well (if you were to peek at my 7070 album)

But thanks on the compliment - yes, I'm in the process of upgrading some of them - They were given to me by my Grandmother when I was 10 years old. so when I finally take them out they go into 2x2s in my Dansco album for homeless coin

Yes, I'm thinking very hard on doing a gold page as well - already bought the page and now sits empty in the back of the album.

With what those pages cost now, I say that is almost half the battle!

Big Update. . . YES !! ..the last non-Au slot has now been filled.
cue the cute fruit...

it was that 1853 quarter, a one year type, that held up the celebration.
i finally decided to put on a serious search. this coin is rather common,
with dozens and dozens of unacceptably mediocre quality examples available on ebay and elsewhere.
eventually I spotted exactly the coin I was looking for, on one of the larger private auction sites.
it may have cost a little extra, but that's okay. received coin in mail yesterday, and I could not be happier.
i will get pics up in a bit.

meanwhile, I reckon it is now time to stop being lazy and show the whole 7070 album.
for that purpose I will continue to use this topic, unless jbuck or someone else advises otherwise.

You can use this topic if you prefer and I can change the title to be more inclusive.

Here is the 25c hole filler.
Looks better in the album.. my photo techniques still need improvement.
I will get started showing the entire 7070 pretty soon.

@jbuck: sure, you can do that, but please wait until the first page photo shows up.
I am kinda overwhelmed with 'stuff' to take care of right now.

Thanks, guys.
@mac: go for it. you will never miss the money (unless your water heater suddenly gives out )
but the enjoyment of a nice coin will last a lifetime.
imho the 7070 is a special album that deserves the best one can afford.
it is a bit scary sometimes, contemplating just how much value can be
concentrated in the pages of one album.

Or that and your HVAC gives up the ghost ten months later.

The best I could budget at least.
