You will probably have to open, orient, and save them using an external program. Some phones store image orientation locally in its library, not the image metadata.

Oof, I'll try again later. If I have the time today, I'll overwrite these files once I get home.

They are showing right side up on my screen. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

You are using Safari on a Mac. I am using Firefox on Windows. If Altaira is photographing with an iPhone, this might be some proprietary Apple humbug.

Now your photo is sideways. Strange things are happening!

That is a screen shot of what his post looks like to me.

Correction: Altaira is a female.

Have you compared the 2008 catalogue data/photos to the 2026? The specific differences are the shape of HRH's lips and ends of the ribbons.

I am NOT looking for differences between the five major portrait varieties! There are more than enough resources for that. I'm looking for a way to identify the sub-variations, which exist within each major obverse type/portrait itself, that are being referred to in this book. And by extension, the reverse sub-types too. I have checked other Charlton catalogues (including 2026), and as far as I'm aware, 2008 is the only edition to go in-depth with the obverse and reverse sub-varieties. (And date positioning, but that is difficult to measure.)
Correct jbuck, Apple indeed. I've tried rotating the pictures on a Windows PC but no luck. They still show up sideways on the forum.

Quote: Correction: Altaira is a female. My apologies. I usually check the profile, and will use the indeterminate 'their' if it were not listed. In this case, it is.

Bobby is looking into fixing the rotation problem. It is possible some tweaks to the new automatic image optimizer will do the trick.

I hope Charlton is not concerned about their copyrighted images and descriptions appearing online.

Bobby has made a change that should fix the image rotation. Please test it when you get a chance.
