If you own it, it might be worth sending in.

If you are looking to buy it, I would pass.

It is mine. So you say could be? Or no way? Worth the cost. Yes, if authenticated D. What are the odds in your eyes?

Don't know if this will help but there sure looks to be a mintmark there - whether it is a D or S is hard to tell...........

Check to see if the reverse is slightly rotated - Here's some info off of the internet.....

"All four known dies for the 1916-D dime are rotated to some extent. Here is the list: With obverse upright and straight date, and motto. Die 1 reverse is rotated to counter clockwise to 11:45 Die 2 reverse clockwise to 1:00 Die 3 reverse clockwise to 12:45 Die 4 reverse clockwise to 12:15"

If you can afford the TPG fees and shipping/insurance, then it is probably worth the gamble.

Here is the rotation depending on my obverse orientation. Definitely counterclockwise. 11:45, not sure but looks close. A comparison I could not find.
As suggested by buck, I will send it to NGC. I have lost faith in PCGS. Especially when in comes to analytical deductions.

OK, I uploaded the images and am unable to edit my orientation. Please rotate 90% clockwise. Sorry.

I agree with jbuck...
But I'd probably consider ANACS instead of NGC.

I agree - after all you are really only after the verification!

Another vote for ANACS. You won't have any expensive membership fees and the grading cost is the lowest among the top 3 TPG.

Sure - it is also the lowest for resell value, but all you need right now is authentication.

Let us know how it goes. I'm pulling for a Denver mint answer!

If it can be identified as either a D or S, it would have
some interest to a lowball collector in either case.

I have one now that I am going to have ANACS grade. I am hoping both yours and mine come out the way we want! Good luck!

Thanks to all for the advice. It will be going with ANACS as suggested. As soon as I get several more coins together to send along with this one, off they go.
Good luck with yours grr601. I will drop back in after all is done. Thanks again gang.
