Nice find! I would agree, a very early stage of a Retained Cud, you can see the displacement at the upper part of the wheat and field. COC's definition of pre-cud, Retained Cud and Cud. "A "Pre-Cud" is a precursor to most collectible of all die break errors called a Cud. The Pre-Cud "AKA Rim-to-Rim Die Cracks". When the die break starts to show lateral spread and horizontal offset it now becomes a Retained Cud. If the break separates from the die the result is a fully-fledged Cud." That's an interesting find on a coin in nice condition. The link to your dad is a bonus. Congrats! =)

Thank you both, Brandmeister, and HondoB! Everyone is in agreement with the Retained Cud assessment.

Quote: Those are pretty nice pictures E&V - did you get a new scope? Thank you, Marv65. I'm still using the same scope. I just used natural sunlight to help with the glare and stuff.
