Quote: I might try to get the cabinet out into the garage this summer for few days to see if I can kill it off and then seal the plywood as described. That's what I'd do, just open it all up and let it bake in the sun.

That's exactly what I'm going to do when we get consistently hot days this summer.

This is very unfortunate. A lot of collectors, including myself consider toned coins to be damaged as that is not how they were intended to be. But if you are happy then that's all that matters.

Most major museums have collections theoretically valued into the $millions. The traditional cabinets that the collections are stored in does not bother the museums much.
Personally, I prefer silver coins in MS65 and above to be blast white. just as they left the coining press.

I'll throw my hat in with TheForce...on both points. And sel_69l, too.
Maybe it's because I am strong deutan, like 10% of male humans (except for the strong bit), but I just don't get the fuzzys like a lot of people seem to for toned coins.
Different strokes. But, given a choice between two otherwise identical coins at the same price, I'll take the untoned.

I like toned coins because it is a reminder that natural physical processes will always win in the end. Nihil aeternum.

I think you should start a toning and storage service. Rent an SRS77 vault box for 2 years at one low price! I'll be your first customer, don't air out that box so quick.
