Here is one from my collection. Russia 500 Roubles 1912 (1913-1917)

A whopping 28 x 12.8cm in size. That era saw some enormous banknotes, and it seems Russians wanted the biggest. Very common and cheap note, but usually found folded into a quarter of its size.

Nice Russian note Clustercoin. I really love the elegant detail some of these countries go through.

& I really like the price range for the Russian, German & other nations that are more affordable than some of the notes posted here. Don't get me wrong, I love those early French, American & Portuguese notes, but I just haven't seen one in nice original condition at a price I can live with.

Here's two from Germany:

That P-80 50,000 Marks hyperinflation note measures 180x100mm & was very reasonably priced (less than $40 in C UNC).

Going back to a common P-42 "Fleet 100" red seal:

-still very affordable but a bit more expensive than my P-80 as it was PMG certified (& the higher grades are much less common).

Here's one of my favourite notes from France & very reasonably priced. P-94 100 Francs is not that popular amongst French collectors (as they're plentiful) & they often call them "sully" notes (for the man portrayed on the reverse). They're not as big as Rob's examples (180 x 92mm) but still much larger than your avg note today. It was similarly priced, around $100 USD, for an UNC example (some may get a better deal but I just got impatient & pulled the trigger from a seller I trusted). Just remember that although they're big & impressive, they're very common (like the German notes):

I also like more modern day large notes like this $50 from the Solomon Islands (P-17 from the mid-80s). They're all very reasonably priced for a note that measures 160x80mm & usually the higher denoms like the $50 are not common b/c it is a nation that is off many collectors' radars:

Considering how tough the newer Solomon $50 note was, this was bargain priced (around $30 I believe). So you don't have to break the bank if you want to get a large formatted uncommon note! The easier ones from France & Germany were harder for me to buy b/c I have seen them priced about half what I paid (years ago I wanted one but never got around to picking one up).

Nice notes walk2dwater.
I like German notes as well and have a ton of them. Do you have a local dealer to go through or do you buy yours online?

Lately I have been going through banknoteworld.com.

That is some banknote somenewbie. It's been through the wringer a few times. I like used notes because they tell a story, and your note has a few stories to tell.

Thanks for noticing Empty Pockets. By that time period, it may well have been wallpaper or toilet paper, rescued for posterity!

@walk2dwater
I've got your P-80 50,000 mark banknote. I really like the size and the fact it's a hyperinflation note. I really dig on the hyperinflation notes. My P-80 is in my binder all by it's lonesome as it won't fit in a pocket so it's by itself sideways on a page

Nice: I just hope you have it inside a large PVC-free currency sleeve.

Here's one of my first World winnings I picked up on ebay from Luxembourg P-47 100 Francs (with no prefix) about 10 years ago:

I like it b/c of the elaborate ABNCo design & the fact that I have yet to see another without a prefix. This note is much tougher than the previous ones I have posted & put me out a little more than the rest. I won it "True Auction style Listing" back in the day you'd see a few of these (but less so now- mostly "Buy it Now" or BIN listings).

Speaking of which, here's P-343 ("White Fiver") that put me out a tidy sum but I felt was well worth the expenditure. I won this on ebay too but you don't see many of these with thin paper & in decent shape:
Got-Any-Big-Notes?-Like-Big-In-Size-Not-As-In-Denomination
Although the note lacks colour it is the largest I own (211x133mm) & has a fantastic watermark that extends throughout the paper.

Here's another cheap/expensive duo:
For the budget minded, here's a 100 Dinar P-27 from Yugoslavia/Serbia:

On the pricer side of things check out this $20 from New Zealand, P-167d (before they downsized their currency):
