even with the lighting I think the coin had a light dip at some point. I dont think there is enough there for a 64 grade so I'm at MS63.

i would not solicit any assessments in the future from the person that told you it was a proof.

it can take a while to get your settings and find the best environment to take photos. once thing you do want to avoid is overhead lighting as it creates glare and obscures the surfaces. there is an entire forum focused on photography if you are interested in taking better photos

Many years ago, this one might have been in circulation for a little while. It does not have that eye-popping appeal to me; although it's that bad a coin, I'm at MS63.

Not a Proof. It's a Business Strike. For the grade, I agree with MS-63.

Not a proof.

How do you guys know whether it is or not? Or what in particular you are looking at first to see if it's one? I haven't had experience with proof coins or made it that far in my learning so to speak.
Thank you all for your thoughts though.

For some reason it doesn't show up well in photos, can see a little of it in some I took but not how it looks in person, but it has a yellowing around the letters all around the outer part of coin on front and it really looks neat. I've seen many dif colorings of coins but never one like this goes. In my opinion, I think they should add value for uniqueness they get with age instead of wanting it to look new.

Proofs are struck on highly polished planchets and dies, The process produces a mirror&-like field and frosted devices. Devices are heavily frosted, with sharp, crisp outlines and rims are square and sharp.

even with poor photos the fields on your coin is not exhibiting any of these markers.

Kacinicole17. I wanted to add to my proof comment that there are proofs found in circulation. they are considered impaired.

Panzaldi- so out of curiosity with what you said, would I be way off by thinking this one could possibly be a proof? I'm sure it's probably not but this one has always had a shine to it unlike the rest to me. Not the greatest photos I'm sure either but this has been passed through generations so can atleast say we've had it a long time and hasn't been cleaned in that time frame atleast.

the photos of your 91S are very confusing. they look like 2 coins. the 2 photos make the coin look cleaned. the single photo of the reverse does not but has a proof-like surface. I can tell you it is not a proof. the chances that any coin you have is a proof is pretty slim.

Another good visual for business strike against a proof strike is if the coin has a cartwheel shine to it, a proof coin will not and yours has the cartwheel.
