Wow....that's COOL! You need to take some pictures with close-ups of the date. If these are indeed rolls of small dates, the price per roll would be about $2000! If they are large date the value is about $2-3 per roll. It's important that you find out for sure what you have. The easist thing to do would be to take them to a local dealer and see what he says.

Once you get to 50 posts, I'm sure members on this forum would be interested in buying them!

I would be happy to look at them, as long as you cover shipping both ways. I promise you this, what you send you will get back.

If they do grade Gem sm dates...I would be interested in buying if you are looking to sell. Great Story! Post some pics, there are a lot of people with a lot of experience who can help you. I was told to check the li"BER"ty. If the letters are sharp, you probably have a large date, if the lettering is wider and less defined...take a closer look.

The link posted by biokemis6 was very helpful ..... thanks for that!

Like I said .... I opened one of the three rolls and tried to decide just what I had here ........ and I still don't know.

What I do need is some better tools .... best maginifiaction I have is an old 3x glass! Trying to find the 'crease in the 7' with this tool and my eyes is .... well .....

I might take chris12018 up on his kind offer ...... and he can keep a few of whatever I have if he wishes. Send me a PM Chris ..... don't know how to do that on this forum yet.

I will tell you this ..... even if they are ALL large dates ..... they are in absolutely stunning condition ....... through my 3x glass only a few of them even show signs of bag handling dings/dents. A few of the first 50 looked ... well .... darn near perfect to my eye and limited experience.

See my post on "Need Inspection Tools" and offer some suggestions on that!

Thanks

David

While you are checking the coins for Large or Small Dates, make sure to check for doubling on the Lettering and Date! The Large Date 1970-S "DDO-001" Lincoln Cent in high grade...BU Red could fetch tens of thousands of dollars or you could find one of the lesser Doubled Dies worth from a few bucks to several hundred or more.

All do respect,With no dis-respect, why don't you find some one to take some pictures and send them to the Moderators, here, Susan and Bobby or coppercoins.com ( Chuck ), or Coop, or Bad Thad or Biokemist6,to just name a few, all are IMHO, very knowledgeable and very nice people and they will tell you, with out all the mailing and fuss, just what you have....Good luck.....

I hope everyone forgives a new members ignorance here .... my only goal is to contribue as I can to the group .... and learn what I can from the experts.

Chris12018 .... I tried to PM you but at the 'send' command was told that "You do not have access to the forum e-mail system". What is up with that?

I'll go out on a trusting limb here .... send me a PM to * removed by Forum Staff. You can trust the people on the forum but not the spam bots that lurk the interwebs *

You are correct Morgans Dad .... I need to learn how to take photos and share them with all you experts.

I am thrilled to have found this fine forum ..... and look forward to many enjoyable sharing of finds and opinions.

Best

David

You are not allowed to PM (email) forum members until you have reached 50 posts. I got the same message when I tried to email with less than 50 posts.

Chris, You are on the right track. hold onto the coins.
Purchase a Red Book specific for Lincoln cents, this book will
show photo's and explain what to look for. Another great book
is :the Cherry Pickers Guide". Happy collecting.
