Franklin halves from reputable dealers tend to sell for 8 times face depending on the spot of silver. So a fair price would be $4.00 a piece. $6 is a bit much I think, but it's only a few bucks.

I think it was a pretty good deal.

I have not seen silver selling at 8X face in my area, especially since the silver value is 10.36X Face.

I think many "reputable" dealers would be selling at higher than 10X.

I just sold down my personal stash for 12x and 13x, and a small one for 15x face.

Different transactions to three separate buyers. Price is all over the place, but not in the 8x arena unless you are buying from the uneducated or desperate.

Most of the dealers in my area are paying 8-8.75X face for 90% silver. You came out decent, especially if they are BU.

Maybe they are 8x when the silver prices are low?

After looking on ebay I guess I did get a good deal. They sell for around $7-$8 per coin. Might go pick up a couple more!

You sure about the 8x face figure? They BUY them from the public for that amount, but they don't sell them for that amount. Not around here and not at any bullion dealer I know of, big or small.

Here in California. Folks occasionally post adds on craigslist, they are crazed. Preaching how silver will be at 25.00 an ounce next month. They are the doom and gloomers preaching end of the world and so on. It is nothing for them to pay 12x when they are in such a mindset. They wander into a shop and see it selling for +$2.50 and all of a sudden they panic.
