I rarely simply "view" my collection, but I spend an average of about six hours a week searching through it, looking for specific coins.

For me, it varies with the time of month it is. In the middle of the month I hardly look at it at all, unless there's a coin I need to find for showing here on the forum. But at the start and end of the month, I'm rummaging through it a lot more, looking for coins to bring along to my coin club meetings or to illustrate articles I write for my coin club's magazine.

I spend at least 4 hrs studying a single coin at a time. Capturing the coin's beauty using digital techniques. As I grew older, I find myself contemplating the magnificence and perfection of modern releases far more often than my Victorians...

That's an interesting effect, CC. Very nice work!

Lately I've been spending way more time looking through stuff. Working on lower grade
album sets is turning out to be a very nice break from TPG plastic collecting.

While I have commented before, I should also let you know that mc collections are seldom pulled out, and 'vied, per se". It is more like when I find a new coin, (to the group), I pull the folders, etc, and add it. Most of the time is spent going thru the boxes, and boxes of cents, both US, as well as Canadian, and checking to see what is there. I just got another box in this morning, Canadian small cents. I would love to get a xox of Large cents, but that is "day dreaming". I don't believe there is a full box of "Vicky", anywhere that is not in someones collection. The exception of course id Bill.
Some one commented on "Contemplating the beauty of the coin(s). FWIW, when you get to be my age, you also spend time "contemplating the navel"! Sleeping with the eyes open?
back to my box of small cents, I bought a 1925 cent, and also got 50, and 1/2 rolls of cents, free, The '25 cost me $25.00
Now if I can just get rid of all the items on that "Honey-Do" list.....

I, like many others in this economy, find myself with a lot more disposable time
lately. 10+ hours per week now, easily.

I would say about 15 a week. Is spent with my collection, taking notes and cataloguing my varieties. Although there are many many more hours spent researching and reading forums. Most of my late nights are spent with coin sites, books, and magazines.

I have to agree! That photo is the best I have ever seen. How did you get the "shadow"?
