*sigh* "one never knows, do one?", to paraphrase an old broadway play lol.

We all gotta start somewhere, after all I didnt always have 153 positive feedbacks, at one point I had one. Luckily its 100% positive :-) but I had a lot of trepidation moments, shall we say, on the way up. I'm playing Devil's advocate, but I think you all see the point. Fact: I messed up the first transaction here on the forum. To date its been the only transaction ON the forum. Of course it all ended up good (I sent the wrong item but then corrected it). So that's 100% negative? Naw.

In short, if the transaction is safe, what the hay, if you really want it you could end up with two people very satisfied, you with coin in haand and seller with one beeyooootiful feedback which will instill a lot of trust for future tranactions.

That being said, remember: Caveat Emptor !

Interesting.. it does look like the exact same pictures. And from the coinfacts page, that particular coin is graded - ICG MS-66, Red. That would have been slightly pertinent to the listing.

elsjls, I was thinking the same thing- there is no way that seller took those pics, those are professional images. With the Coinfacts link, it is readily apparent that those are stolen photos and the seller has never had possession of the coin in question.

I tried to report this but what I got back from ebay was a blank email copy, as if no information was submitted.

What I wrote was this under a couple different reporting choices.

The seller has stolen a PCGS image and claims to have taken the images himself on white paper and cropped them. You can see the Seller warrents the coin to be as pictured in the my messages exchange between a potential buyer and the seller. The coin he claims to be selling is property of PCGS and copied.
This is blatant theft. A copy of this will be sent to my State Representative since you people are only interested in getting the commission and fees paid in Paypal. You do not help protect the buyer, you support the activity by allowing thousands of scams to be listed each day.
See this page to see the obvious same image of the PCGS coin.

The rainbow toning on the right hand side is virtually a fingerprint detail which is unique, and if you were educated in numismatics, you could easily see other diagnostics in the coin that show it is unique to a certain production die.

i wrote to the seller. Saying that I will report him for selling a coin that doesn't belong to him. I got no answer and my question was deleted from the page of the auction.

They will get a Lincoln Cent to prove the weight was sent, insured common coin. If it were me I would open it at the PO in front of a teller that would back me up.

In this case, I think the local or federal Police forces should be involved.
Am not sure if there is a law protecting thieves like that. probably is.....that's why they get away with it

Hopefully they paid with paypal and then they will get their money back.

I just don't understand the epidemic of rotten morals that is going around. Sure there have been and always will be a few ugly people in this world but I am over 50 years old and have never remembered such a drop in the mentality of people like I have since the year 2000.

I was raised well, so were most of the kids I grew up with. Today, driving a school bus I see and hear a lot. Things are worse. I just don't know where it will end? Still most people are honest, but the stuff that is going on in this world has definitely gotten scary.
There are far too many people that think if they can get away with something that it is OK. So sad.

Well, I don't think that there are more dishonest people in the world, it's just that with mass communication we're exposed to more of them. Used to be, the only crooks you got exposed to were locals, now you have to deal with crooks from all over the world!

Once again, another reason to boycott ebay...
