I bought another Set today, and the Denver coins were good, but in
the Philadelphia Set, the Polk Dollar and LP1 Cent had grease marks!

I had posted this earlier but I deleted it and put it all here again so it makes a little more sense to readers.

Yeah I got my email about my sets shipped on 10/09
With Columbus Day postal service shut down, they have not arrived yet. I am nervous hearing some of this stuff is shotty. You would think they would hold back on shipping damaged coins but I hope mine arrive in nice shape. I'll re post on them when they arrive here.

FOLLOW UP EDIT:
My two sets arrived today Oct 16th, I have not opened them yet. They are still in the outer thin brown sealed sleeves. I had reported someplace that FedEx had the tracking, but the last leg of delivery was by my postal carrier. FedEx delivered to my Post Office.

I guess I'll wait for some daylight and look them over by a window this weekend and hopefully they will be sharp and flawless.

Another Follow-up Update Edit:

I opened one mint set. I am a perfectionist which is a pain. My coins have bag marks and dings and rubs on the high points. My cents have micro dot spotting on them too.
Without a glass, they look OK.
I wonder if I should send them back or if I should just accept that this is the way it is?

I am more inclined to think that this new packaging has something to do with the excessive marks on the coins.

I am still debating weather or not I want to shell out this much money for a mint set. I only want a few coins from it. I would probably just spend all the dollar coins to help pay for the set.

Well my four sets arived yesterday.

I opened two sets and most coins are pretty good but a few are not that good have allot of marks. I will most likely keep them though I guess you have to pay to ship them back and then the replacement you get could be even worse.

I may open the other two well guess I will and see what they look like.

OK questions for you all just opened the other two sets and they are far from perfect but ok for me except.

The one set the Denver 2009 LP1 looks like someone took a hammer to it no way something like this should ever get put into a set now QUESTIONS?

I did not thinking make on the outside of the brown box with black marker 2009 Uncirculated Set will this keep them from taking this on set back for exchange anyone know?

Well not sure what will happen the receipt tell you how to return so just did that flat rate box $ 4.95 and Insurance $ 1.75 hope they exchange it and the new one is not worse than the one I returned.

Sure makes you MAD when you have to pay so much to return there poor quality guess the US Mint has no pride anymore BIG BUSINESS coins never get looked at just assembly line but that one cent looked like some beat it to death with something guess some machine did that WOW it was not worth anything and the min reason I got these was for the copper cent so had to send that set back now that set cost $6.00 more.

Business strike coins look much better than the satin finish. Unfortunately you can only get certain coins from the mint sets.

I suppose if nobody or very few send them back, then quality control will not be addressed and we can expect more of the same in the future. I think proof coins will be OK but the UNC and mint sets will be scuffed and rubbed until the customers make an impact one way or another. Either by lack of sales or by them having to shuffle returns.

I have to say with my order, all the Lincoln cents are in excellent condition from both mints. Maybe I got lucky or the mint handled these coins with more care than some of the others.

Well just got an email from the US Mint they have credited my account for the set I sent back I had it marked for an exchange or replacement so now I guess I have to order another set.

I would assume when it says we have credited your account for $27.00 or so that means they are not sending me another will look maybe the credit is at the mint and I must place another order myself.

Well another email from the US Mint this morning confusing but I think they sold me another uncirculated set for the one I returned.

They did credit my bank account but now it looks like they sold and charged my account for another one.

I did request a replacement will let you know when I am sure there emails are confusing.

I've still been dragging my feet in ordering a couple of Uncirc. Sets.
Don't know why......I'd like to combine it with another order to save on shipping....but I'm, now, not sure if I want anything else !
I wasn't about to "combine" the Lincoln Coin & Chron. Set with anything out of paranoia that it would louse up my order !
I already have my Proof Sets....my Silver Proof Sets.....hmmmm

There won't be a sellout on these Uncirc. Sets, so perhaps I'll just wait until it gets closer to the end of the year....then order.
Wait....or get it ordered ?

I do not think they can sell out. I believe that they will keep making the sets as long as people order them, but only until the end of the calendar year. I could be completely wrong, or that might have changed when they switched to the satin finish.

I went back to the Denver Mint Gift Shop, and exchanged that set.

The new set they gave me, both the Denver and Philly coins are in great
shape, but in the Philly set the LP2 Cent is 180º upside down. All the
other coins in the Philly holder are perfectly straight right side up.

But since the Cents are unmarked and unspotted, that's more important to me,
and I figured I better just keep it and smile...

There were three returned Uncirculated Sets on their returns desk, and
my returned Set became the fourth.

There was a 'perfect' Uncirculated Set in the display case, and now I'm wondering
how many Sets they had to open to get that Set in their display case!
